As winter’s frosty breath approaches, enthusiasts of whiskey are eagerly seeking that ideal pour to elevate their spirits. Introducing Jim Beam's latest limited-edition creation: Winter Reserve Bourbon. This seasonal offering from one of bourbon's most celebrated names is crafted to envelop you in warmth during those chilly evenings.

The bottle’s design captures the essence of the season, featuring holly leaves, berries, and acorns, inviting you to savor a glass while the snowflakes dance outside.

Jim Beam Winter Reserve Bourbon

🥃 86 Proof

🥃 Aged for 6 years and finished in toasted barrels

🥃 Mash Bill: 77% Corn, 13% Rye, 10% Malted Barley

🥃 Bought at my local Total Wine for $23

🥃 Sampled in a Glencairn Whisky Glass

It’s important to note that this is not a flavored whiskey, but rather is the familiar Jim Beam Bourbon aged for six years that gets its warmth from an additional toasted finish.

Appearance

This bourbon boasts a rich, dark amber hue reminiscent of maple syrup, catching the light beautifully and hinting at the delightful flavors within.

Nose

The nose greets you with a joyful burst of robust cherry and brown sugar, inviting you to take a sip. Beneath this sweetness, notes of vanilla emerge, intertwining with warm spices like nutmeg and clove. A gentle hint of cinnamon and a touch of peanuts add depth to the aromatic profile.

Palate

On the palate, the bourbon reveals candied cherries that dance playfully, complemented by a pleasing walnut bitterness. A warming cinnamon spice follows, culminating in a smooth, creamy vanilla finish that lingers softly.

Finish

The finish is relatively brief, showcasing dry oak and the clove notes detected earlier, with a faint trace of those characteristic Beam peanuts.

Jim Beam Winter Reserve Bourbon offers a delightful experience that conjures images of cozy winter nights spent around a fire. While a higher proof—around 100— might enhance its complexity, it remains an exceptional value for its price. I would confidently award this bourbon a solid 4 out of 5 stars, making it a wonderful addition to any whiskey aficionado’s collection.

Cheers! 🥃
